Step-by-Step Walkthrough
1. 🧩 Understanding the Data Structure
Understand how Fieldmagic organizes:
- 👤 Customers – Who you're billing
- 📇 Contacts – Optional individuals related to customers
- 📍 Sites – Physical service locations
- 🛠️ Asset Types & Assets – Equipment categories and items being tracked
2. 🧹 Preparing Data for Import
Prepare clean CSV files for:
- 👥 Customers
- 📍 Sites
- 🛠️ Asset Types
- 🔧 Assets
✅ Tip: Include a unique external ID in each record to avoid duplicates during future imports.
3. 📥 Importing Customer Data
- Open the Import Wizard
- Upload your Customer CSV
- Map the fields:
- 🔑 External ID
- 🏷️ Customer Name
- 🏠 Address (Street, City, State, Zip Code, Country)
- 📞 Contact Details
- 💾 Save the mapping as "customers import" and submit
4. 🌐 Importing Site Data
- Upload your Site CSV
- Map the fields, ensuring each site is linked to a customer via the external customer ID
- 💾 Save the mapping as "site import" and submit
5. 🛠 Importing Asset Types & Assets
- 🔧 Manually create asset types if they don’t already exist
- Upload your Asset CSV
