What are the common challenges with servicing a large group of assets?
A common challenge faced by many organisations that carry out preventative inspection work is when a large number of assets need to be inspected within a set period, most commonly with annual inspection work. Often it is more efficient to spread the service half-yearly, or across four quarters in the year to ensure all assets get serviced.
Examples we’ve seen include Fire Alarm Devices in Fire Safety, where the sheer volume of assets can grow into the hundreds per building. There are likely many more examples of similar scenarios where volume plays a part in how asset inspections are spread out.
For this reason, we designed Asset Grouping in Fieldmagic to create the necessary service reminders for each subset of assets to be serviced, thus ensuring all assets could be accurately tracked and serviced.
How Does Asset Grouping Work?
Fieldmagic allows you to create Asset Groups for scenarios where you may need to service a customer’s assets for the same period eg Annually, but break up the service of these assets into smaller periods. Asset Groups can either be set-up while carrying out the initial asset registration on-site on the Fieldmagic mobile app or via the desktop interface.
- When creating or updating an asset on your mobile app, the technician will have the option of either selecting a predefined Asset Group previously created or can create a new Asset Group for the Asset.
- Office Staff can then view all Site Assets and their associated groups allocated, and create a service schedule for each group. This will create service jobs at the correct defined date each year attaching the correct subset of assets to the job.
How does this benefit me as a Fieldmagic customer?
The Asset Grouping Workflow allows you to remove the complexity around ensuring large volumes of assets are serviced within a given period, by providing the flexibility to easily group your assets and create service reminders for them.
